What to wear back to work - work outfit ideas for men and women

Making that wardrobe transition from ‘working from home’ to ‘back in the office’ is a very real dilemma for many of us right now.  From the 21st June we’ll be hopefully getting our full freedom back, and that goes for our new ‘back to work’ look! No more lazy outfit options or zoom calls in your pyjama bottoms!

This can be a bit daunting for those of us that have got too used to ‘no effort needed’, but for some of you fashionistas, maybe you’ll be craving to be able to express yourself once again and get your professional identity back!

I think it's safe to say that during Covid we’ve all become less formal in our attire and we’ll probably need to ease ourselves back into finding outfits that adapt to this new found comfort we’ve got used to.

Here’s our outfit ideas to help you revisit your professional wardrobe, but with a few cheats to make it still feel casual and comfortable…

Elasticated waists can offer that comfort you’ve been used to, these Religion Roots Culotte Trousers are perfect now summer has arrived! Paired with our Scotch & Soda Cream Jersey V-Neck Cami and a pair of Superga White Leather Flatform Trainer - this is a great smart/casual look that will see you through the warmer season.

According to Vogue, dressed up Denim is making its way into our work wardrobe, due to us becoming super attached to this trusted item of clothing during Covid. These Selected Sophia Skinny Cream Jeans twinned with this colourful print blouse Replay Printed Viscose Georgette Blouse or a colourful cami Grace & Mila Cornelia Green Print Top will offer you a casual, but fun look! Matched with a pair of Superga Navy Cotrope Flatform Trainer to finish off the outfit.

For those of you that have been eagerly awaiting to explore this new relaxed approach to workwear, but still want to feel ‘dressy’. A jumpsuit or a dress can be a real statement piece, but with the right choice, still offer a super comfy outfit.

This classy Selected Malvina Black Jumpsuit or Scotch & Soda Leopard Print Dress are perfect summer clothes pieces. Wear a pair of Superga White Leopard Detail Trainer to make your look even more funky!

It is definitely becoming more acceptable for men to turn up to an office meeting wearing a sports jacket or blazer with jeans or chinos.  Our Scotch & Soda Dark Navy Super Slim Fit Mott Chinos and Guide London Geo Tile Print Shirt donned with a pair of John White Sorrento Cognac Suede Moccasin Shoes will really set off your summer smart/casual office look.

If you think it's time for you to bring jeans to your desk, a pair of Replay Hyperflex Colour Edition Anbass Dark Blue Jeans and our Universal Works Blue Utility Shirt are a really cool casual work look. You can always pop a Remus Uomo White Tapered Fit Plain T-Shirt under your shirt to make it even more on point. A pair of John White Navy Westfield Chukka Boot will still keep a smart element to this outfit.

Some of you might be desperate to ditch the joggers and get back in that suit. A well-fitted suit does make you stand a little straighter, walk a little taller and make you feel ready for whatever the day brings.

The suit will never go away, it feels too good wearing it. A Chino and Blazer suit can have that edgy look whilst still being super smart, this pair of Scotch & Soda Mott Yarn-dyed Check Chino and the Scotch & Soda Yarn-dyed Blazer Jacket are a great combo. A White Oxford Shirt with a pair of John White Pembroke Brogue Shoe and you’re back in the game!

We hope these outfit ideas have been useful, being professional can still be comfortable and there’s so many ways to adapt your ‘back into work’ wardrobe. Maybe one of the few bonuses of Covid will be a more relaxed approach to what we can wear to work.

Good luck guys, have fun owning your new work looks!
